Is it also deactivated when you mount owls?Wolkendrache wrote:Yes, but that wasn't my point. Just wanted to show you that battle lust is deactivated while mounted.
Still, the stat increase is nothing compared to battle lust S.

Re: [Guide] Skills
I just noticed the skills section in my Japanese guide. It actually shows Battle Lust in this manner:
Number of attacks: E-C 2, B-S 3
Power of each attack: E 55, D 60, C 70, B 50 A 55 S 60
So if your Battle Lust skill is D, the character has 2 attacks doing 60% of the base damage each, totaling 120% aka an additional 20% damage.
I suppose this means that at S, you get 3 attacks, with the 2nd attack having a "power" of 70 and 3rd attack having a "power" of 60. However, the original %-based calculations seem to always work, with S giving an 80% damage increase, so I'm really not sure how this works.
We might consider the Suikoden III formula where the 2nd swing does 75% of the 1st and 3rd swing does 75% of the 2nd... but how does that give us 80% more damage?
Also, here is the "additional damage" from the Narcissism skill:
E: 5
D: 8
C: 12
B: 16
A: 20
S: 25
When you train an elemental magic skill, it increases power and decreases cast time.
Increased damage (%?)
E: 10
D: 20
C: 30
B: 45
A: 65
S: 80
Cast time reduction
E: 0
D: 1
C: 2
B: 3
A: 4
S: 5
Also, interestingly the Counter skill not only increases the counter-rate chance but increases the power of counters:
Probability of occurrence
E: 20
D: 40
C: 60
B: 80
A: 100
S: 120
Damage rate
E: 40
D: 60
C: 80
B: 100
A: 150
S: 200
I will try to revisit counter-attacks, because I originally thought they were bad for S-ranking as the counter damage seemed to be low and ignore Battle Lust. But an S in Counter should double damage--even if it doesn't use Battle Lust, Battle Lust in practice increases damage by 80%. A 200% counter damage should be stronger than the 180% regular attack with Battle Lust.
The Critical Hit skill seems to add a flat % to the critical hit rate:
E: 2
D: 3
C: 4
B: 5
A: 6
S: 7
The Sniper skill increases both hit rate and critical hit rate. I was surprised to see the Sniper skill's crit rate bonus is almost as good as the pure Critical Hit skill's!
Hit Rate bonus
E: 4
D: 8
C: 12
B: 16
A: 20
S: 25
Critical hit rate bonus
E: 1
D: 2
C: 3
B: 4
A: 5
S: 6
Bull's Eye affects hit rate and decreases the enemy's chance to proc a defensive skill (like Guard):
Hit Rate bonus
E: 10
D: 20
C: 30
B: 40
A: 50
S: 60
Decrease target's chance to use defensive skill
E: 0

C: 0

I'm more surprised the other ranks are already so strong. Maybe they're all subject to enemy PDEF?

Re: [Guide] Skills
Yeah I would think these extra attacks are subject to enemy PDF, but the 80% generalization has been so accurate across different conditions.
At S it might be 1 + 0.7 + (0.7x0.6) = 2.12 or 1 + 0.7 + 0.6 = 2.3

Re: [Guide] Skills
Why 0.7? The guide says 60. I don't think second and third hit are treated differently (at least not based on what you've been writing).
I'll see whether I have a save state where I have just obtained the skill to test it. The low.levels are.more confusing to to me since it says 0.55 in the guide, but 0.1 in the thread. This is a massive discrepancy. How were the 10, ..., 80% determined, I.e. under what circumstances?

Well, this was a lot easier than anticipated. I guess studying a natural science obscures the view for.the easiest solution.

Re: [Guide] Skills
haha that's amazing! so the damage info was for each "swing" and you progress from 1 to 2 to 3 swings. nice
