Err, I don't understand, what does it matter?Wolkendrache wrote:note: I used a save file in which I already visited Floor 1-4 once, hence the several “?” blanks. You’re invited to help complete the list.
Entering at lightning day gives the 1B version
Here's what happened
I finish 1A and got the chest and the dig, returned to surface
I finish 1C and didn't get the chest/dig, returned to surface
Then I keep resting to enter the ruins at the correct configuration, if not I reset the console
I overwrote the save to the state where I haven't entered the Obel Ruins at all
If you want, I can give you the save so that you figure out yourself
The only character I miss permanently is Roget

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Wow, I got the 4B version now
4B no chest
4B dig is Ranger Gloves
5C dig is Counter Ring(I haven't managed to get this configuration, but if you read the item list, it's a simple matter of elimination

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Well done, gildedtalon, thanks for the missing information!
Only thing missing is the enemy configuration for 5.I.C.
But I don't understand what you said about lightning day. I don't think a certain day gives you a certain version. I got 1B at any day, not only lightning day.

It means, when I decided to compile the information, I didn't start a new game, instead I used a save file. When I played 1B, 2C, 3B and 4B, there were no treasures and digs, which means I have already been there. This was the earliest save, and I didn't feel like starting a new game. So, thanks again for helping out.gildedtalon wrote:Err, I don't understand, what does it matter?Wolkendrache wrote:note: I used a save file in which I already visited Floor 1-4 once, hence the several “?” blanks. Don't worry, as you know, having or not having all characters doesn't affect anything in this game. On the other hand he's a good character, especially useful in the cyclone chambers imo.gildedtalon wrote:The only character I miss permanently is Roget

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Yeah, that lightning day for 1B version, somehow it works whenever I load the save in which I've never entered the Obel Ruins at all
Btw, how did you name it version A, B, and C?
In my game, 1A doesn't go to 2A
Then how did you forget the configuration for 5C ?

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
I've made the experience to sometimes be "stuck" in a particular version, and even resting doesn't help. In this case, complete the first floor and leave the castle, it could help. When I got stuck this way in 5.I.A (6 times in a row), I did that, and immediately got 5.I.B. (I wrote about this in a thread about "Obel 5.I. configurations")gildedtalon wrote:Yeah, that lightning day for 1B version, somehow it works whenever I load the save in which I've never entered the Obel Ruins at all
At will, just to distinguish the 3 different sets. Particular assignation doesn't matter, as the different A's etc have no connection, so 1A has nothing to do with 2A. It's random, your route could be like 1A-2C-3A-4B, and next time you enter it's like 1B-2C-3B-4C.gildedtalon wrote:Btw, how did you name it version A, B, and C?

My last attempt which is also the first attempt gives me 5B
How did you forget about 5C configuration?

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Congrats, you're lucky, cause 5.I.B has the best chest item. It's the best armor for Nalkul, Champo, and Karl.
I got sick of the ruins (and 5.I.A), so after getting 5.I.B, I continued with the main game. I only remember the chest, as well as 3 golems and their locations in 5.I.C.

Floor 5 is a serious problem for me because of the golems, how to make it easier?

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
- Take your time.
- Stay on your terrrain and let the golems waste their arms. Heal afterwards.
- Lay down the golems opposite terrain, and after they are weakened, finish them off.
- Let 1 enemy alive!!! Don't forget that!
This takes some time and you can't expect a high rank, but it's relatively safe

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
The spells of the (Mother) Earth Rune that make you immune to magic work against the golem's fists. So just protect one or two characters with these spells and let them go forward. The fists are the most dangerous attack imo. Then when you go to close combat, try to kill them in one round so they cannot attack you again. You must use the opposite terrain, otherwise you will deal minimum damage.

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Can somebody verify or refute some of the following...
1) The golems' long range attack works like a weapon command rune, so it matters whether you get hit "from behind" or from whatever side. I'm using quotation marks because you actually get hit from the top, like a lightning attack, that's what the animation suggests. But still, the direction matters, same with the rune cannons at small border village.
2) The above mentioned attack ignores armor bonus, only natural physical defense matters. I've got the feeling that characters with high physical defense (Trishtan, Eugene, etc) get much less damage than characters like Wendel or Frederica, even when their overall defense (including armor bonus) are about the same. Since this damage difference can be huge, I believe the damage multiplier of the attack is calculated last, something like this: (base AT - physical defense) *damage multiplier. For Trishtan let's say: (70-50)*4 = 80. Wendel: (70-20)*4 = 160.
3) Once and for all: The enemy levels in the ruins are based on the levels of your 8 highest-level characters. I'm not sure about the exact number, but 8 makes sense. The only alternative I can think of is something like this: (sum of the 4 highest-level characters + Kyril's level multiplied by 4) divided by 8. What I can confirm they're not based on is: Kyril alone, the highest-level character alone, the average of the whole group.

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Save states seem to work to change floor configuration, I managed to get 5C hehe
5C: 3 golems(2 on the northwest, 1 on the west), 1 fist, 1 sword, 3 bows, 7 lizards
The chest is on the long central T platform(on the southernmost part of the platform)

Re: [Guide] Obel Ruins
Excellent!
@KFCrispy: It goes without saying that you can incorporate the above list for floors 1-5 to the OP, so players can view the complete Obel Ruins Guide on the same page. Information on 5.I. is especially helpful imo, because you have to choose between 3 items (2 missable and 1 rare).
As for the elemental chambers, here are some more corrections:
- Mother Earth B is missing 1 fist and 1 sword from the enemy list
- in Flowing C, the ambush party has 2 spirits
