Mystery Dungeon - farmable OP runes

Post by KFCrispy »

You can farm Rune of Warrior's Pinnacle and Rune of Mage's Pinnacle, which is basically the Fury Rune from the Suikoden games. As long as you're fine with resetting your progress in the Mystery Dungeon (at some point your progress will save, so I think it's harder to farm for specific when continuing progress).
If you haven't tried it, fighting in Mystery Dungeon will inflate your team's levels as well, so even if you don't go for any specific rewards, fighting enough in Mystery Dungeon will have you steam roll the rest of the game.

Warrior's Pinnacle is rewarded from Ancient Seed. It boosts STR for the first 4 turns.

Mage's Pinnacle is rewarded from Astrea the Judge. It boosts MAG for the first 4 turns. Recently I found out the characters who attack with a magic element use their MAG, not STR, for normal attacks! Mages with high MAG and this rune will normal attack for huge damage, and a basic spells that deal "moderate" damage do even more.

The sniper version of the rune seems to give 100% crit rate.

These 3 status effects are the same status effects you get when certain other "comptabile" units die, similar to someone berserking in Suikoden when a friend dies. That version only lasts 3 turns, though. (Allegedly, maybe that means it lasts 3 turns, then expires at the end of the 4th rather than the start of the 4th? Not sure...)

Also, the effect of these two is +50% power and +50% magic respectively.

Thanks, I was actually wondering if the effects doubled the respective stat, because sometimes it felt that way!

It's possible these easy rewards have been removed after the recent patch.

Rules:
- Before each boss there are 2 fights against common enemies.
- The 5 bosses in each set appear in random order.
- After each boss you’re asked to replace 1 active member with someone from a list of 5 (random?) characters. Usually 4 fighters and 1 support character are offered.
- After each set of 5 bosses you are fully healed and your progress is saved. It means you can leave the room and continue later or start from beginning (your progress will not be deleted as long as you don’t finish a full set iirc).
- You’ll get a one time reward after each set of 5 bosses.

Farming Tips:
- Don’t forget to equip the Super Lucky Badge!!!
- Before starting the trials, look at the list above to check which runes you wanna farm and how many.
- Start with the 1st set. Let’s say you only want 3 Warrior Pinnacle Runes from that set. Choose „normal mode“ and if the Ancient Seed doesn’t show up, leave the menu and try again. If it shows up, choose „start“ to fight 2 groups of enemies followed by the Ancient seed. Leave after defeating it. Repeat. Once you got all you need, finish the set (fight all 5 bosses in a row) and leave. Repeat this procedure in each set. The reason for doing so is simply to save time. This way the boss will always be picked from a pool of 5. You could farm everything later in endless mode, but then it’s a pool of 25.

Other Tips:
- If you don’t want to overlevel the whole roster for the rest of the game: DO NOT USE NOWA! The Drill Grounds seem to level your characters up to Nowa’s Level (my Nowa is Lv57, all benched characters have long stopped at Lv57 Exp999). Only use 6 characters. I used Iugo, Dijkstra, CJ, Momo, Lam and Isha because they are overpowered anyway (and because they don’t have much to do with the main story).
- When asked to replace a character, you actually don’t need to use someone offered. You only need to get rid of one you used. In normal mode, just move your support character into the convoy. Next time you’re asked, you can simply move your support character from the convoy back to the support slot (basically replacing the empty slot with a character). If a useful support character shows up below, pull it up and have these two switch after every boss.

Endless Mode

Same drops, different rewards at the same intervals:
Primordial Light Armor
Sphene Bangle
Primordial Armor
Primordial Mail
Primordial Shield
Mark of a Hero

Rules Differences:
- The 25 bosses before the Ancient King will appear in random order.
- After each boss you’re now asked to replace 3 active members.
- You will not be healed and your progress won’t be saved along the way.
- If you beat all 26 bosses in a row, you’ll get all rewards at once when leaving (same for normal mode actually, but we were farming there, right?). If your bag is full, don’t worry, you’ll find them in your vault.

Tips:
- When asked to replace 3 characters and you don’t like to overlevel more than the 6 characters you chose, remember: you don’t need to use other fighters, you only need to pull out 3 characters you used. I moved Dijkstra, Lam and my support to the convoy. You can use a different support if a good one is offered. After farming in normal mode, your characters should have an optimal rune setup, so by now it should be easy enough with just a group of Iugo, CJ, Momo and Isha. Every other boss you can move your convoy characters back to the active group. Unfortunately you need to fight the Ancient King with the handicapped group, so try to heal in the second fight of stage 26 to be prepared.
