The thing with The Elder Scrolls games is that if you play it on PC, you can mod to... Well, Oblivion! There's tons of mods out there that can make the game more challenging, add more intellectual challenges for you.

While I do like Skyrim a lot, I still don't understand the hype it gets. I very much prefer Morrowind since that one wasn't so... Easy?

Skyrim is the only ES game I've ever played and I love it (even though it's chock-full of bugs, there are plenty of things to like about it, lol!)

I don't find it as emotionally engaging as a lot of JRPGs that I'm used to playing, but I do love the freedom and customization and open-worldness that comes with it. I also like the fact that there are no deadlines to complete any of the quests - you can just do stuff in any order you want.

Actually, there are a few ideas I'd like to see from skyrim brought into the Suikoden games (should we ever get any more Suikoden games) one being hundreds and hundreds of books. I don't read many of the books in Skyrim (unless it's a journal or notebook that provided clues to certain areas) but it's a nice idea, having loads of volumes on the world's history and significant characters. The Suikoden games only give us about 9 or 10 books to collect in each game, and a lot of them aren't very interesting, but if we actually could collect loads of books detailing the histories of certain towns and journals written by characters and even events that relate to other games and bring the whole mythology across the series together, I would definitly make the effort to read every single book I pick up!

Yeah, I've mentioned the book idea in another thread before. Great minds think alike. :D The Suikoden world certainly has enough history and lore to make the book collections more like the Elder Scrolls games.

As for Skyrim itself, I did enjoy the game a lot. Unfortunately, I played it on the PS3 so Bethesda gave me the shaft in the form of VERY buggy gameplay, frame rate drops, TONS of broken quests, save files that exceed 14 MB in size, and no DLC in the foreseeable future. As a result, I haven't played Skyrim in about 6 months.

Before I quit Skyrim, I had put nearly 250 hours into a single character that I got up to level 79 if I recall correctly. All skills were maxed out at 100 except for lock picking(low 90s) and alchemy(30s-40s). I would get back into it if Bethesda worked out the DLC issues and sweetened the deal by making if free. (I know, fat chance)

So I'm not the only one who likes the book idea! :) And I think reading the characters' personal diaries might be more interesting than just their random half-assed notes that they leave in the comment box.

Yeah, I'm a PS3 user as well. Not particularly bothered about Dawn guard because I'm not a huge fan of vampires and werewolves. Hearthfire would have been nice to access a new house and houscarl, but I'm not bothered about adopting unwanted children (Grelod was right in my opinion - nobody wants them, nobody needs them!) I think the bug that pisses me off most in Skyrim is when you finish a quest and it's still there in your quest log. Go away, I've finished you!!! I'm considering murdering the people involved with those quests, hoping that will make them disappear.

Another problem with the quest journal is you can't remove quests that you don't want to do. so if somebody wants me to perform a criminal activity, and I'm intentionally playing a do-gooder character, and I even say no I'm not interested, the quest still automatically becomes logged, and I end up with an endless list of things to do. i love having a big game, but when quests keep piling up on top of eachother, it kind of makes me feel I'm not acheiving much.

I had a couple of broken quests involving the Companions. The first one is one of the radiant quests where I have to rescue a random citizen being held by bandits and escort them home. My game selected Eltrys as the person to rescue. The problem is that earlier in my game, Eltrys was murdered by the Markarth guards during the "Forsworn Conspiracy" quest in Markarth. So when I go to the quest marker to rescue him, his kidnapped corpse is lying there and the quest cannot be completed.

The second one is a result of the previous one. I want to cure my werewolfism by tossing more witch heads into the fire thingy with my other Companion allies, but the quest to do so won't become available because the "Rescue Mission" quest is still active.

That's just two of my broken quests. I think I have more in my log.

I'm not to broken up about the Dawn Guard and Hearth Fire DLC, because I heard they're not worth the $20 and $5 price tags, but the new Dragonborn DLC looks sweet. Too bad I'll never get to play it.

another bug I encounter (it's fixable, but it's ridiculous) is when the game freezes if I try to turn myself in to the guards for a crime. It seems to occur if I've got stolen items in my inventory, and because one of my characters is a thief/assassin type, then that's quite a lot! So to avoid the crash, I have to put all my stolen items in storage, then approach the guard to get rid of the bounty. It's a bit of a turn-off.

Man, I love Skyrim (never played any TES games before it). The hype might be springing from the newbies and the true fans. I think they loved how the game improved graphically (alot better than Oblivion), voice acting had been upgraded with more variety/more professional VAs. I think the game itself is also good as you won't get bored with a linear type storyline. You could do sidequests from time to time which is lift boredom from the main quest.

Really that happens? What race are you playing as? Are you using mod items? That could be a problem.

My thief character is a khajit. No mods, because I'm on PS3. It happened first when I returned to Solitude after completing an assassination mission - a guard approached me (it was a fixed encounter, I couldn't walk past him or ignore him) and charged me with a crime. If I tried to pay the fee, the game froze. If I tried to submit to a jail sentence, the game froze. Only thing I could do was resist and end up fighting all the guards, which was no good. I looked around on some websites, and somebody said to put any stolen items in storage and try again - I did this, and I was able to pay the fine and the game continued without any hiccups.

The same problem occured again when I was doing the forsworn conspiracy in Markarth - after the fight in the temple, I tried to hand myself over to the guards, and the game froze. This time I had tons of stolen items in my inventory (apparently, every single one of my lockpicks was a stolen item as well) I read on a site that the quest could be complete without being arrested, by killing the soldier as soon as you enter the temple, which I did, and was able to continue without any hassle.

Apparently the Dragonborn DLC will come out for PS3 sometime early next year. I'm not sure how I feel about this news. Hearthfire and Dawnguard still aren't available, and Bugthesda still haven't addressed any of the problems plaguing the PS3 version. I haven't touched my copy of Skyrim in more than 6 or 7 months, and I'm not sure if overpriced and long over-due DLC will get me back into it.

I also recently encountered the bug where if you clear out Cragswallow or whatever it's called BEFORE agreeing to help the jarl of Riften break up the skooma operation, then you can't complete the quest and will not be able to buy the house in Riften. This is with a new character, and I spend quite a bit of time building up the cash, and I'm carrying loads of shoot around with me that needs to go in storage!

I'm actually thinking of buying the 360 version. I wanna see if they bring out a full version of the game with everthing on it, so i don't have to download the other stuff seperately. These bugs are just embaressing though. I stopped playing Skyrim for a while and went back to playing Suikoden 4 and Tactics, and just the feel of playing simple last gen RPGs without worrying about glitches every 10 minutes, and a quest journal that doesn't go on endlessly was just... Well... lovely compared to how hectic and unorganized my Skyrim experience has been!

Not if you live in Spain, Germany, France or Italy, since we didn't get the DLC like in the rest of Europe, since in those countries the DLC is still pending of SONY aprovation. Curious all the countries with their own languaje had this problem. So probably will have something to do with location.

They said they will announce the release dates on this countries as soon as possible.

FOCK THEM!! On my end, they already lost my money, I'm not going to buy it now. Enough is enough. I'll spend that money on DW7:Empires

So... I still can't get over this game. I'm not yet doing the main quests and I'm like... Wandering forever. Playing in a PC sure makes you wander round and about with all the mods. Though I don't have DLCs too bad for me :(

To be honest, I don't think they should have bothered with Dawnguard. It has some cool features, but of the number of times I have restarted with different characters and choosing different skills, I have only ever completed the Dawnguard main quest twice - once to see how it plays out when you join the vampires, and once to see how it plays out when you join the vampire hunters. I found it incredibly tedious, going on those long quests with Serana, who was the most irritating NPC ever.

Besides all that, it's the dragons that are supposed to be the major threat to skyrim. I'm supposed to be finding a way to defeat Alduin, and there are vampires attacking and killing villagers - it seems stupid to have vampires upstaging the dragon threat. Dragonborn was a great DLC, because it takes you a bit further into the mythology of the dragonborn, but the vampire crap really should have been saved for another elder scrolls game. Instead of Dawnguard, they should have come up with a proper conclusion to the civil war story line, and fixed some of the many bugs that already exist in the game.
