Aeonova wrote: Mon Apr 10, 2017 7:16 pm I don't have my old PS1 and Gameshark Pro so I'm not able to make my own codes anymore. Any time I try to search for this, my google-fu fails (or it doesn't exist) and normally nets me Window Set item codes. I was hoping for a Window Modifier Code that I could use from the start of the game (not needing to go recruit Tenkou) to get something other than the initial gold-border window. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I could probably figure out the digits once I had the address, but if the code made this window with a black background, that would be great. I don't know how the values are handled (if the window type and the color are independent addresses).

Gonna try again to work it out on my own again tonight with Cheat Engine and ePSXe, but if anyone knows the Window mod address or values, that would be helpful. Thanks. I'm so ready to be done trying to crack this stupid value. *sigh*

Thank you so very much for the reply with an address. Sadly, I'm not able to get it to work (because of course not). I started a new game. I made it to the Ryube errand for flour. I activated the code and saved. I relaunched everything vanilla w/o cheats and the windows don't seem to change. Anyone else able to get this to work (maybe at other points in the game)?

Using ePSXe v2.0.5, Cheat Engine v7.2, and other things and not getting the desired result. Any suggestion on maybe some sort of memory editor or something? Kind of grasping at straws at this point.

MasterGrand? Name checks out. Here are my findings. These codes work similarly to many of Suikoden II's codes in that you need to activate, save, and then reload for the settings to take effect. After that though, these finally worked for me. I identified all options and here they are.

Image

How I wrote the code in my PEC cheat engine for ePSXe PS1 emulator for others that use it to just copy at will:
"Window Border Modifier
3006AA59 00??
$00 Default
$01 B&W Default
$02 Pencil-like Lines
$03 Charcoal Lines w/ Ash Corners
$04 50/50 B&W Lines
$05 Default Gold w/ Rounded Corners
$06 Grey w/ Squared Corners
$07 Green w/ Rose Corners

Using your code as a starting point, I also came up with the code for the Window background color digits and they are as follows:

Image

How I wrote the code in my PEC cheat engine for ePSXe PS1 emulator for others that use it to just copy at will:
"Window Background Color Modifier
3006AA5B 00??
$00 Grey
$01 Blue
$02 Red
$03 Green
$04 Purple (More Plumb Red)
$05 Violet (More Royal Blue)
$06 Brown
$07 Black

I know know that there is a difference between purple and violet so there is now that. Thank you so very much for the effort and I hope that this post helps others. Being able to start with whichever window border and background color you want for the UI at the beginning of the game makes is so much more enjoyable than getting it towards the end of the game, in my opinion.

Seriously. Pat yourself on the back. You've solved the riddle of the border code and I am most grateful.

BTW i tried using Leona-always-available-service-codes it messed up my game because leona wouldnt appear at all in my castle, just her assistant who kept telling me she was outta town for restocking wine. And i've messed all trading posts item stock by using All-shops-refresh-everytime and all-rare-finds-9-quantity so it made all trading posts with zero quantity all items

If you want to customize the value, tack on 80088984 ???? and supply your own value (in hex). 01F4 will give you 500, which is pretty good, and might make some of the unites and things where allies take damage based on ATK more survivable. If you just want everybody to hit like a tank on auto, the one line is good enough.

Oh, this takes over the upper bounds check, so you can theoretically use the second line to set insane values. I didn't test that, though. The limit could be enforced elsewhere, or the game could glitch or crash if you go overboard.
Do you know the def stat modifier code?
For making it 999

does anyone know if there is a code for unlocking the armor slots of a character like Pesmerga so that you can change their armor?
You can search for characters in RAM Memory or Hex Editor if you want

Code: Select all

*spoiler* Is there a way to make Kiba or more specifically his war unit after he is killed? I also want to show Kiba is alive on tablet just to see if affects anything. I tried the Leona recruit list increased method but
a) it does not save and always needs code to stay on
b) freezes game when using Hans, Jeanne, Tessai or Alex on a member not in the party currently or on McDohl, Jowy 1 and 2.
Is there a different code that I can use that allows all characters a Leona and shops that will not freeze and I can save it for that playthrough? Code I used increases slots from 82 to 84 "D010E8C8 0052 + 3010E8C8 0054" any higher value gives some weird looking placeholder slots.
This is perhaps my 15th play through and I am just doing odd things for giggles. Using odd battle units, recruiting later, using runes and "strategies" never tried before, not min/maxing stats by not using stat items, turning fighters to mages , mages to physical fighters and lots of other fun (to me) stuff. Thinking of limiting things further to make an in my opinion "hard mode" version of Suikoden 2.
*Edit* for spelling, more info and clarification.

Needed to add another thing that I noticed messing around with the codes that add all stars, increase the available slots at Leona's or the single codes that just add whichever you did not recruit in game (Valeria or Kasumi) that Tomo ends up on both stars she can take. Is there a code to fix this or special order to enter the codes to avoid this?

Nah. It's just a consequence of the replacement logic in the stone tablet. When it gets to Valeria, it checks to see if Kasumi is recruited, if she is, then it returns Tomo as the "owner" of that star. Then it does exactly the same for Kasumi. It doesn't actually check the recruitment status of the character that belongs with that star until the replacement has been made.

It won't affect the best ending as far as I'm aware. The only way to fix it would be to keep a code active that changes the way the tablet is done and picks a person arbitrarily for the star that has two characters on it.
