Rising Status Effect Mechanics

Post by KingSpilly »

Some random details on status effects I found while screwing around:

Elemental resistances and weaknesses affect your chances of getting a status effect. For example, equipping an ice lens makes you less likely to get the Burn status effect, but a lightning lens will make you more likely to get it. The damage inflicted by the effect stays the same, however.

Status effects do percentage-based damage, scaling off of remaining HP, not max HP.
Status effects also prevent you from switching characters.

When frozen, you take 1% damage upon breaking free.
When burning, you take 0.5% damage between 9 and 11 times, doing between 4.5% and 5.5% damage.
When electrified, you take 0.99% damage 4 times, totaling 3.96% damage.

Getting a status effect multiple times in quick succession will give you increasingly long periods of immunity to it. The best way to demonstrate this is with environmental hazards, such as lava geysers or lasers.
