Unappraised Items

Post by sticky-runes »

I understand that the appraisers in Suikoden are there to figure out the cost/value of an antique that you find, it's just funny that the items come up as ? painting or ? statue, and the name of the object doesn't get identified until you've taken it to an appraiser.

It's like, "What you have here is a Flower Painting". Really? Our warriors are so brutish and uncultured that they can't tell it's a painting of a bunch of flowers?

Then there's the peeing boy statue. "Wonder what kind of statue this is? It looks like a boy with his todger out trying to have a piss."
"That, sir, is a Peeing Boy Statue."

It makes a bit more sense with the vases because not everyone is likely to know straight away what type of vase they're looking at just from the shape and style.

It's also nice in Suikoden 5 that Bastan identifies the painting you give him for his recruitment as the artwork of Ivanov, even though it is just a random painting.

I remember when my roommates watched me playing the first game game in college.

- "Hey, that monster gave you pot! Wait, better not. It's questionable pot."
