Kanakan Stories

Postby thcrock » Tue Jun 29, 2021 1:32 pm

Well, last year I started coming up with a game project here in the Suikosource forums, and after fifteen months or so of quietly working on it, I have a version to show (if you didn't already see it on reddit) !

https://thcrock.itch.io/kanakan-stories-vol-1

Here's the deal: I'm looking for player feedback, and to see if it's generally playable and if people are able to make it to the end. Let me know what you think and if there any show-stopping bugs!

I have some updates here: I basically called this version finished, and moved onto volume 2. I created a Facebook page and YouTube channel to update with content from the first game and development updates on the next game. Check these out if you are interested!

That's a neat project! Are you developing with RPG Maker?

Thanks! It's actually not with RPGMaker. I have been using the 'SuikodenRM' engine developed by somebody else a while ago and which has a thread on this forum. Since there's no combat in these games, it actually fulfills what I need quite well and I haven't really had to add much.

If I keep this up, after about five or so volumes I intend to do a full game with the different characters all grown up and in an armed conflict, which would play more like a standard RPG like Suikoden. If I get to that point, RPGMaker will definitely be involved as I definitely don't want to code a battle system by myself.

Gotcha! I'd definitely like to see something like that. Good luck with it.

I took a break from the game to make Stardle but now I'm back and have been putting out some development updates on Youtube. Most of what I've been doing recently is mapmaking. I'm trying to start getting out a video every week, even if I don't get a whole map done each week:
