New Indie game project based on Suikoden

Post by Punkaiser »

Cosmic Star Heroine is the name. It's said to be a combination of Suikoden and Phantasy star. We don't know how much of Suikoden feeling it would bring, but it's still better than nothing, right?

If it has lot of recruitable characters, war battles, and a Suikoden-esque plot, then that's fine with me.

Just look at the articles in the first post, atm there's nothing more to know.

I'm not really hyped for this game, but I'll see and make my final judgement when more info is available. It sounds interesting, but not... that interesting to me.

It's 'Indie'. Which means it is a freelance developer, right? Is it something like Minecraft?Where is this 'developer' getting the money to produce such a big game, anyway?

If you want more infos, read the links posted in the first post. They'll be doing a crowdfunding project on kickstarter.

I backed this. If you've got any direct questions for the developers then try asking in the dedicated thread at the Penny Arcade (Games and Technology Forum) thread. The guys who are making this also made the Penny Arcade: On the rain slick... games so they tend to engage with the community there. They've already been warned by Suikoden fans there that invoking the name of Suikoden as 'inspiration' is a big statement in itself.

In terms of Suikoden similarities, it'll have a base that grows as you recruit new people and seems to have a very large cast of characters. Battles will be turn based and party based with team-up attacks and synergies between certain characters. There is also supposed to be an element of political intrigue in the plot.

All that said, from what I've played of Zeboyd games before I don't think it'll feel like Suikoden and I highly doubt it will match the overall 'scope' of Suikoden storylines or even the graphical quality (S2 still looks great by comparison to most sprite based indie titles now).
