Katrina destoyed my collection
Katrina destoyed my collection
I am an evacuee from Huricane Katrina. The storm destoyed my home town of Chalmette, La. I now live near Portland, OR. I would like to know were I may purchase the Suikoden series I and II. I know I can replace III and IV at the local department store. I am unable to retrieve my belongings because the St. Bernard parish (county) area is still under water. I have a new place now and I am starting work very soon so I am in a position to replace all that I have lost. Any help will be appreciated.

Ouch, that's rough man, you have my sympathy.
Your best bet for I and II is eBay, but you'd need to be willing to spend some big bucks. (On the UK eBay site I generally goes for about £60 and II for over £100). III and IV shouldn't be too hard to find or expensive, just check local game stores or sites like Amazon.

That sucks. I'm from Lafourche Parish, but we got off easy when compared to St. Bernard Parish and Orleans Parish. Are you going to return to Louisiana someday?
Suikoden IV is still pretty easy to find, and you could probably find it in any nearest retailer. If not, you can order it online from places like http://www.walmart.com and http://www.gamestop.com.
I saw a used copy of Suikoden III in my local GameStop about a month ago, and you could probably find a copy, used, at http://www.gamestop.com.
And as Lemmy Claypool said, I and II are very difficult to find, and very expensive when you do. Your best bet is to try to get it as cheap as you can on sites such as http://www.ebay.com http://www.half.com or http://www.amazon.com.

Honesly you can still pick up 1 really cheap. Another place to look is rental places like blockbuster that sell old PS1 games.
For Suik 2 dont bother with Amazon, the people that sell on there are straight up gougers trying to sell copies for $180.00 + screw them.
Honesly its frustrating how much people are selling them for. For such a rare game that is no longer in production there sure is a lot of copies circulating around the net...People are selfish as far as I am concerned with some of the prices that are charged for it.

What else would you have him do? Wander around aimlessly from store to store, hoping that he'll luck out and find a copy in good condition for under $50? It's not very likely to happen.digitalrob wrote:For Suik 2 dont bother with Amazon, the people that sell on there are straight up gougers trying to sell copies for $180.00 + screw them.

Well, some people may have luck finding used copies in stores, but that's not the norm. You really need to go hunting to find those copies. I know I've been looking for copies any time I go into a game store, and I've never seen one (Suikoden I or II). Game clerks are usually pretty savvy, and buy them up quickly.
Yeah, there's a few price gougers on certain sites... some prices are egregiously high. But even so, the general prices you're seeing are not necessarily unfair. Look at the prices on eBay- and the prices there are determined solely by supply and demand, not by some pre-set dealer concession. Suikoden II is now regularly bid on for over $100 per game. And you'd be hard-pressed to find a non-auction copy selling for less than $139, which means somebody's buying at that price. It's supply and demand that sets the bar that high, not price gougers.
My point is: just because you can find a copy for $10 in a used games bin doesn't mean that that's a fair price. Occurrences like that so rare, and the games are purchased so quickly, it just indicates that the game store is charging way too little.

Look in pawn shops no joke I found S2 in the pawn shop for 10$ like 5 years ago. And I do feel bad for you at all. But I just have to ask (I'm not trying to be rude or cold-blooded by asking this I just have to know) Why didn't you get your games before you evacuted I mean you already knew it was big right that's why you left so why not take your games and Like I said that does suck.
A rpg-suikoden site that lets you choose your character and basically play suikoden on your computer as if it was on your ps console

I would also try used games stores.
And if I saw you dancing, I would spin you around, spin you around, turn your world upside down
