Sindar on a book?

Post by Runemaster »

Dunnow where to put this but here goes.

Searched wikipedia for "Sindar" and this is what appeared:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sindar

'Grey Elves'.. Sindarin is also their language.
I'm not sure but could this be related to Suikoden's Sindar?
I will bring Lordlake's fate... to the entire Suikoden World! weeeeeeh!

@Raww Le Klueze: Sigh... from where do you get all the hostility? The sarkasm is not appreciated.

@Runemaster: The sindarian race we know from the Suikoden games is an element which has nothing to do with the original Suikoden novels. I doubt that the masterminds behind the games got the sindarians out of nowhere, and I think that they've let them inspire by the gray elves from Tolkiens universe. Although they might not be related in any other way than the fact that they are both ancient cultures.

first this reaction is overboard

no hostility whatsoever there dood...

now about the topic,

let's see... Tolkien was around already decades before LOTR was made

so unless we establish a connection between Suikoden's writers and Tolkien's work

we really can't say that Sindar of SUiko and Sindar of Tolkien are one and the same

but chances are, Suiko's Sindar was influenced by Tolkien or at least derived from Tolkien's

Thats one of the fun things about RPGs, especially the Suikoden Series. Finding their influences and the ideas that inspired what they do.

Guess I owe you an apology then, Raww. Sorry.

Yeah, this isn't really a Lord of the Rings board so it's unlikely that anyone here will be able to answer that.
