Unknown to some, Suikoden II had a demo version released, one that was even released in English.
In Japan this demo came with Metal Gear Solid, in Europe it came with Vandal Hearts 2. It does not appear to have been released in the U.S.
While the first part of the demo is a simple playthrough of the normal game up till you beat the Mist Monster, the second part is the new "Battle Mode".
In Battle Mode you traverse North Swallow Pass, now called Trial Road, with a couple of different characters from the game and different enemies and a different boss.
There is not much story to be had, but Luca Blight is in it.
