A Wanderer and merchant, Hotupa is a well-traveled man who is exceptionally skilled at opening, closing, and manipulating Gateways. Hotupa traveled with his comrade Moana through the Flesaria Forest before he chanced along the Hero’s party. When he learns they are seeking a woman who looks exactly like one of their companions, he figures that there was a Gateway involved and sets out with the party. When they encounter the woman, Hotupa explains the concept of the Infinity, and helps send her back once her business is finished. Hotupa then takes an interest in the party and travels with them to Cynas, after his own position as Starbearer is revealed, and he too, becomes intrigued by the natures of the Chronicles.

Hotupa joins with the Hero’s entourage to stop Cynas, as having the Order around would be bad for Wanderers and their business. He is often called upon due to his experience with Gateways. He tries to assist Cougar in getting home, only to realize one can only leave another world through a Gateway they entered from, and gets Cougar home once the Hero takes Ladzaa Fortress.

When Diadora opens a Gateway using her staff to Pharamond, Hotupa manages to connect it to the Gateway in the Hero’s Castle, allowing for quick access between the two major bases of the Company. Diadora attempts to overwhelm the Hero in El-Qaral, Hotupa’s Gateway closing skills are put to the test again, which he manages to shut. Being so familiar with Gateways, Hotupa offers to travel the Infinity while the Hero is fighting the war, finding ways to defeat the One King, even encountering a magical world where carriages run without horses and the sky is bright even at night. He is unable to get any information this way, however.

After the Order’s defeat, Hotupa serves both as a liaison to the company and as a merchant, prospering immensely. - Matt620
