Practical uses of runes???

Ask questions about the events that take place during the Suikoden games themselves.

plenty of things. just got to use you imagination. with the fire rune for instance, you can jus figure many things out to do with fire. heating things, cooking, etc. You can just think of everyday things.

In suikoden 5 there is a boat powered by the "Flow rune". I assume they meant flowing but it could be something else.

Wind Runes allow for the use of wind power (great for sailing ships).

Water Runes, just like it's been said, allow for boats to have an easier time. (It would make it very simple for boats to sail against a river's current) Note that few boats in Raftfleet use oarves; that's because of the Rune's use.

Fire ... erh, that's pretty obvious. Fire is always obvious stuff.

Thunder ... same deal as Fire.

Earth would affect the soil; make it areable, rise up or lower down ...

If you watch the Nickelodeon TV series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, you'll get the idea. Sometimes the world of Suikoden and the world of Eberron seem alike too, on how Natural and Supernatural come together.

Aside from that ... there are/were the Rune Cannons of the Suikoden IV/Rhapsodia/Island Nations era.

Why do you think there are practical uses, then, if they haven't been seen?
Though, again, we have seen the Flow(ing) rune to speed a ship.

Flow Runes and the rare Flowing Runes are one and the same? I'm surprised.

Viki uses her Blinking Rune in a practical non-battle way in every game. :P

But then, how often have we seen someone light a fire using matches or by striking a spark? Many of the things we see in the Suikoverse aren't fully explained. For example, in Suikoden IV we never had to sail our fleet depending on the winds. Obviously that was for game mechanics, but we can at least theorise that they were supported by wind runes.
Ice has formed and there's snow between the tracks/ And I have seen the surface tear and I can't look back/ And cool low sun has blinded you for days from horizon to horizon can I dream this all away

Kyle used his water rune in a non battle way and Sialeeds used her wind rune several times outside of battle.
And if I saw you dancing, I would spin you around, spin you around, turn your world upside down

Not sure about something? Check the board rules!

Yes, how can Kyle use a spell that doesn't belong to the Rune he had?
