Tactics confusion

Post by Xiennia »

I am not sure....when I read a review on Suikoden Tactics, it said that the storyline takes place before Suikoden 4. (between S3 and S4). I hear that Snowe apologizes to Lazlo in ST, but doesn't that mean that the storyline takes place after the S4 events?

*sigh* The story takes place before and after IV, the first three chapters I believe are before IV and then the rest of them are after IV but they are closely linked, only a few years, like 3 I think, had passed from the beggining of the game to the present part in the game which is after IV.

3 years? More like a couple of months after 4. Context clues are your friend.
I hope everything is going delicious.

The first battle in Razril took place 7 years before the end of Suikoden IV.

The Steele events took place no more than a year before the end of Suikoden IV.

The rest of the game is 2 years after the end of Suikoden IV.

Well, I just pwn'd myself with that one. The way certain people in Kooluk were speaking, it was as if the whole Island Liberation war, or what have you, just happened. I guess I should take a refresher course in the form of another playthrough.
I hope everything is going delicious.

Don't worry. You are not the only one who got that kind of impression from playing the game alone. I did too.

That "2 years" gap information came from an official publication though.

Mistranslation? But I do remember a part in the game saying "Several Years Later" then it goes to say "Three Years Later" so then the several could have been the years during the war, or something.

The in-game timeline went like this:

Back Street of Razril -> Several years later -> Steele's events -> Three Years Later -> Kyril's journey

The "three years later" bit was with regards to the Steele's events. Not the Island Liberation War, which took place a few months later.

Well,

SPOILER

being in that freezing water at the end of Steele's chapter could have caused some kind of death like illness that made him unable to do much and he probably got sick a lot, thus in the start of 4, Andarc was glad he got some of his strength back, which tells me that he had been on the sick bed.

Just to clarify S3 is nowhere near the timeframe of S4. They're not in cronological order. S4 is a prequel. It goes

ST,S4,ST,S5,S1,S2,S3 with gaidens thrown in there around the time of S2 but I'm not 100% sure about their exact timing.
