well there is a Sun and a Moon for the World, so it is very likely they use the normal concept of planets and universe. Also, the Gate Rune connects different worlds.Kobold wrote:You can't really ask that because the concept of planets don't exist in Suikoden.
Hence, saying that it's Earth would be wrong... It'll just be the World...
What's the name of the Suikoden world?

Suikoverse fits, I just always used 'In Suikoden', but why not call it Suikoden Earth?

Cuz Sukoverse is shorter and only one word, haha, serously though it doesn't matter to me, the important thing is we all seem to call it differnt things.Suikoverse fits, I just always used 'In Suikoden', but why not call it Suikoden Earth?

Suikoverse sounds like it would be the term for their entire universe or reality......

Since the map (the one Templeton gives you) is called Suiko Map, I always call the world "Suiko"... So simple

i like Suikoworld for the actual planet, and Suikoverse is something i use to describe their reality.

Re: What's the name of the Suikoden world?
Suikoden means "water margin tales." I aren't entirely sure about this, but I think that "Suiko" means "Water Margin," so, without the "den" it would just be Suiko (thats Water Margin). It would be obvious if the world was the water margin, thus making the world be called Suiko. Another evidence that this might actually be the true name is that Templeton gives you a map of the world, a map called Suiko Map.

"Suiko Map" would only mean "a map of the region around the lake," if you make a literal translation of the word.

Re: What's the name of the Suikoden world?
then why not just call it plain "Suiko"
you dont call the Earth Earthworld now do you?
i dont see the need to indicate suffixes pertaining to what type of entity the name implies (-verse, -world)
let's try it in a sentence
"In the northern part of Suiko lies the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia."
sounds wierd?

Re: What's the name of the Suikoden world?
The Suikoden planet is called Fairytopia, that's at least what it is called in S IV...
No, seriously, the suikoden peoples do not need to name their planet, since they don't seem to have an actual interest in other planets, even though Leknaat/hellion was/is the Astrologist of Toran(or was it something like that? I don't really remember...).
I would say they call their planet simply "earth", for this would be the most fitting name. I mean, we call our planet as well "earth"(in every language i know) and nobody would argue about that topic.
