Pahn MUST be alive. It's quite posssible to do- as soon as you get him back, level him up and sharpen his weapon as much as you can. Good armor doesn't hurt either. Make sure to save right before you fight Teo.

Sorry, it looks like you're going to have to start over.

Yes you can see Gremio in S2 if you save him in S1. He would join the convoy, but not a fighting character obviously. You would also get 1 recipe from him if you do the cooking contest mini-game.

It's not really necessary. You can do McDohl's side-quest in S2 without Gremio (he'll be replaced by Ellie). So you can carry on. Resurrecting Gremio won't change much in S1's ending either.

You can replay the game later if you really want to see him in S2. But like I said, it's not necessary at all.

Gremio must be alive for the PERFECT ENDING.

Anyone who plays Suikoden MUST know they HAVE to go for the PERFECT ENDING :D ^_^;

How is the 'perfect ending' different?

You just get a little change in the last scene, and it's not even attractive.
If my ending wasn't perfect, Konami wouldn't have created Ellie to replace him!

To be honest, I prefer not to resurrect Gremio. It's not that I don't like Gremio, but I like the story more when he's dead. As it's been said, there's hardly any change in the flow of the game, but seriously I mean, it becomes a bit.. well, not as good when you think about it. He's one of the main characters whose death made an impact on the plot and gave it more beauty and taste.
I don't know about you but I for one disliked the fact that he could be revived.

Either he meant emotionally dead (true statement) or he meant Suikoden 3 (also a true statement).

He could have also meant his Luc died in war during the first one, however that wouldn't prohibit him from being in 2 (which I guess some people thought/thinks happens if they load their data from 1 w/ dead repeat characters).

Lo Wen died on me once. But I don't think Luc is one of the characters that can die. He's a bit important (Leknaat's apprentice/ needed in the battle with Sasarai).
