According to this site and gamefaqs, Suiko 2 was released 8/31/99. But according to wikipedia and some other sites it was 9/29/99. As I remember it was the end of September, because I am almost positive that I had already beaten FF8 by the time Suikoden 2 came out, and I believe 2 & the Final Fantasy Anthology (9/30/99) were released at the same time.
Does anyone else remember when this game came out?

Re: Release Date
it's hard to say, but i seem to remember thinking releasing Suikoden II against FF8 was a terrible idea. So I'm leaning towards 8/31/99.

Re: Release Date
Never fully trust any US release dates listed online before 2000, they're almost universally wrong.
Back in the day, someone somewhere on some site had at the time the habit of entering every US release date as one day before the earliest confirmed release date anywhere (usually the Japanese date), which then spread online. This resulted in alot of inaccuracies which alot of the time still remains actually. Sites like GameFAQs eventually tried to rectify the problem but due to the exact date not being known, and because their system didn't allow for just year and month entries at the time, alot of entries got defaulted to the last day of each month entered. And with that in mind, the "8/31/99" date is HIGHLY suspect.

Re: Release Date
I talked about this some months ago, and it seems that it really was September.
IGN says so (without an exact date): http://www.ign.com/games/suikoden-ii/ps-10547
Also in this review that was written back then: http://www.ign.com/articles/1999/10/27/suikoden-ii
RPGamer said in their news back then that the release date was set back to September 7th and I guess this is where the confusion started. http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q2-1999/062999b.html
Actually, this is even the SAME EXACT DAY as FF VIII's release, so this is true if everybody remembers that As for September 29 - no idea. I'll do some more research on that.
This message in an old message board says September 28th. http://garfie.tripod.com/things.html
Another site from back then claiming it was September 25th. http://www.just-rpg.com/rpgsrule/default.asp?pid=581
It's cursed. Doesn't anyone have magazines from back than?

Re: Release Date
Meh. They did the same thing with Suikoden V, releasing it on what I believe was the same day as KH2.
You can say decisions like that is why the Suikoden series isn't nearly as popular as it should be.
