I'll give you a hint. Our game doesn't have a main "hero" per say. It does have a centralized, Tenkai Star, protagonist though. Also heroic is a great description for this character.

That concept for the hero has completely changed as the plot shifted. And don't worry, it wont look anything like any previous suiko hero haha.Antimatzist wrote:you should consider a hero who does not look like the hero from the PSP Suikoden
Thanks for the positive feedback
Long live Suikoden!

Will you use the game engine solely for your game or do you plan to make it usable for "everyone"?

That is a bit tough to answer at this point. Because the engine will be built in the easiest way it can be to make our game. Meaning that if there's a common RPG element that we don't have in our game we probably wont be including it in the engine.Antimatzist wrote:Will you use the game engine solely for your game or do you plan to make it usable for "everyone"?
We do have a plan to make the event editing sorta similar to RPG maker. But it will be a lot less user friendly. So it would be much more for the hardcore type creators most likely. Since it will be tailored to us, and probably take some learning for anyone that doesn't know what we were doing.
That said, I would like to have it open for the community to use. But it all boils down to the programming, and the programmers.
Long live Suikoden!

Will the engine be scriptable from the get-go? (Lua?)

Lua is a scripting language similar to the Ruby you can use with RPG maker games. If something like that is a part of the engine from the start, it makes it fairly extensible, even if that's not your intention.

Then no. It will only do the things we need it to do make the game. It's going to be written in c#

As an update, the engine can now support character animations and we've received a couple offers for additional hands on board in that respect. Full speed ahead...
