I didn't know that thing about the Hidden Rune Village water until reading this today. The main thing I missed earlier though was I didn't figure out how to trigger the child knight side quest in Hugo chapter 1 until my second time through.

I had Georg in my party when I liberated Greenhill from Yuber, looking forward to unleashing him against the Bone dragon boss. I had a lightning rune embedded in Georg's sword. The bone dragon boss is immune to lightning.

First time I fought that boss I brought Sierra with me and had the same problem.sticky-runes wrote:I had a lightning rune embedded in Georg's sword. The bone dragon boss is immune to lightning.

That will teach you to use Sierra, with Rina and a Rage Rune I wiped out this pile of bones in a couple rounds
I just had a facepalm as I finished SII and had the last image after the credits being Jowy waiting for me at the cross-marked stone... Oh so that's why I had a feeling I forgot something!

So glad I am not the only one who has geared up on the lightning magic for this...

I prefer to see things this way: I will rule the United Soviet Socialist Republics of Highland, Dunan, and Toran from its capital Kyaro where, as President of the Praesidium of the Supreme Soviet, I will leave a cosy life in the former residence of Jilia Blight while Nanami (who is the only person I trust anymore because I have become a paranoid tyran at that stage) will be the real ruler of the land while I'm being Rina's bitch.

Re: Experienced Suikoden Player Facepalm
This isn't really a facepalm, but I just started a new game of Suikoden 5 today, and in the scene where Miakis twists Euram's arm and says "that's more than enough of THAT" I thought the text box said "That's more than enough you TWAT" I was obviously thinking of something else at the time. Maybe we should start another thread of dialogue we've got mistaken?

Re: Experienced Suikoden Player Facepalm
In Suikoden I, where Runes do not have explanations on what they do, and with little experience on RPG concepts, I kept casting Deadly Fingertips on the Zombie dragon, thinking it would do some sort of damage.
I still beat him, but it made the fight unnecessarily more difficult. A boss which is considered to be one of the toughest in the entire series.

Yeah, Suikoden 1 was the only game I played with a dictionary at hand. It was like: Playing - getting frustrated - reading dictionary - facepalm.Piisuke wrote:Couldn't get past the painting puzzle in Neclord's castle in Suikoden I, due to lack of understanding the English language at the time. I was about 13 years old, or something.
Back then I didn't know it was possible to beat Teo with Pahn, so if Pahn didn't appear in the character list after losing the duel I reloaded until he did. Basically I was waiting for the glitch to trigger, and I still don't know what made it trigger.
In Suikoden 2 I remember the first time at the mercenary fort, where you had to do these stupid tasks, was full of facepalms (forgot a box, a blot, or the rope etc.).
