yeah but we don't have enemy MDF so it's hard to say if they are using resistance skills to reduce damage or the pure stat.
also, in Suikoden I, we found elements on physical attacks have difference damage bonuses/penalties vs magic spells. attacks would deal 50% more to enemies weak vs the element and have no penalty vs enemies strong vs the element, while magic gets doubled, halved, and nullified. let's hope they didn't put it in this one!
... so i'd want to test both magic spells and Sword of Magic.. yeesh
