duels in suikoden 3

Post by Arcadius »

uh.. does duels in suikoden 3 affects the storyline? i know lucia vs chris duel doesn't affect anything other than just a cut scene as hugo, but how about fighting against jimba? my friend told me that he never won that duel so probably thinking that duel is a must lose duel but when i tried it chris defeated jimba with just 2 hit so uh am i suppose to lose that or it doesn't matter??

Umm not really sure but I think some of the duels do matter to get some stars but other than that Im pretty sure the others are just to get extra cutscenes and stuff. Again not really sure :)

i believe the duel with Sasari in Hugo's Chapter3 matters. You have to defeat him and 'prove' that you're the 'real' Flame Champion. I think that the duel with Chris and Jimba and Chris and Lucia don't really count. But the duel with Geddoe and Duke counts, i believe.

A little off-topic but is it possible to defeat Sasarai in the duel at Chisa Village? Because the last time I played I almost defeated him but the game stopped the duel and it returned to just dialouge.

I can't remember if you're supposed to win the Chris and Jimba duel. I think you are but I have to check my guide to see if it says that.

There are two duels in the game that cannot be won. They are Melville vs. Guillaume and Hugo vs. Yuber. All other duels can be won, though among the ones that can be lost without resulting in a game over the outcome is only pertinent for that one scene in which the duel takes place.
