Re: Will Flik get over Odessa?
well i assumed that the code of the warrior's village was that a sword is meant for protectionJanusThePaladin wrote:Could you explain how he failed the meaning of his sword?Mio wrote:meh... Flik failed to fulfill the meaning of his sword
he should definitely get a new one and start over
means both sword and girl
And i was under the impression that the Warriors Village warriors would only HAVE one sword, hence the necessity to name it.
recall how Hix got accepted by Zorak as a warrior
Hix wanted to protect someone with his sword despite his inhibtions
the inscription is the name of the maiden that the warrior vows to protect
Odessa getting slain is a disappointment to that vow, correct?
hence he failed his oath
that is, according to my assumption
i suggested that he gets a new sword so that he'll be able to move on
and won't be reminded of his past everytime he looks at his 'Odessa++'
little 'Flik++' could be getting limp, i mean lonely ya know *wink wink*

Re: Will Flik get over Odessa?
i dont think that the name of the sword is always a woman. As i recall the way it was put forward in Suikoden 1 with the few random characters that talk about swords and their names, it seemed more like everyone's sword was named, but only a few named them after their loves. Like the one lady who says something like "He acts tough, but i know its my name on his sword" Obviously the man could have named the sword ANYTHING but he CHOSE to name it after his love. In Flik i would think its much the same thing, and i think that whether he finds a new woman or not, he will always love Odessa, and he may see it as disgraceful to her memory to be rid of the sword he named after her (my only basis for this is his hopeless romantic status).

Just like with any broken heart, it takes awhile to get over it.
If you really loved someone & you planned to be with that person, it can take years for the pain to heal.
Sometimes it takes years. You never forget it.
So yea he may get over it, it will just take years by Fliks actions.
