What's the point of Joshua remaining in Dragon's Den?
He joined Liberation Army didn't he? Wasn't he supposed to be in your castle?

He has access to flying dragons. He can swoop over to help you out in battle whenever he wants. It's not like we needed his constant presence in the castle to plan strategies or anything like that.

Hm...and how he'd be informed about an upcoming battle to get prepared?
Cellphones didn't exist in Suikoden so they could call him...

In the old days, people used messenger birds or lit beacons or blew on horns or rang bells to let allies know of an impending battle. And Joshua has access to FLYING DRAGONS. He probably has dragon knights out scouting the countryside.
Not to mention Tir has an elf who can run at the speed of light and a sorceress who can teleport people to the other end of the country.

What's the point of Joshua going somewhere else? He's the leader of the Dragon's Knights, it's not like he can just leave them alone.

Because Joshua has the Dragon Rune and if he dies so do all the dragons, thus to protect himself, and therefor the dragons, he stays in the fortress as much as possible.
Doctorum Non Urina Singulus.

It's kinda bizarre since once someone's name's registered on SoD tablet, then he/she'll be stationed in your HQ from now on.Antimatzist wrote:What's the point of Joshua going somewhere else? He's the leader of the Dragon's Knights, it's not like he can just leave them alone.
Only exceptions were Luc,Sarah,Yuber and Albert from S3...but here it makes sense of course. It'd be super weird to have them hanging around in your castle.

It's actually weirder that he's always on the tablet, because normally in the first Suikoden, characters disappear from it when they are on a story mission and currently not available.

Indeed. But once someone's registered cannot be deleted unless he/she dies....right?Antimatzist wrote:It's actually weirder that he's always on the tablet, because normally in the first Suikoden, characters disappear from it when they are on a story mission and currently not available.
First Suikoden worked differently somehow.

If someone dies, I think the name is greyed out - at least that's the case in later Suikoden titles.

Yeah that's what i meant by deleted. I think it happens in S1 too. When someone's on a mission or not available currently, his name will disappear from the tablet.

the characters who disappeared from the tablet were only the playables, and as you probably know, it was likely due to some poor planning by the developers that linked the SoD tablet with the list of usable characters at that moment....

So you mean SoD concept wasn't developed yet?KFCrispy wrote:the characters who disappeared from the tablet were only the playables, and as you probably know, it was likely due to some poor planning by the developers that linked the SoD tablet with the list of usable characters at that moment....

Re: What's the point of Joshua remaining in Dragon's Den?
it's just an oversight that combined gameplay mechanics with the Tablet of Stars. the 2 aren't supposed to be linked--just because a playable character cannot be added to your party for a moment because he/she is doing some mission doesn't mean they should disappear from the Tablet. as you know they fixed up the problem going forward.
