Characters order in Richmond's investigations

I wonder how the characters are ordered in this game. They are not placed alphabetically or according to the tablet,but i think it has some meaning,but still i wonder what? does anybody know?

I have posted the list below (with Ridley/Kasumi/Sigfried & Feather)

The only thing i can see is that the first 12 characters (except Georg) are related somehow. They were at the first game....but i wonder why Meg,Luc,Tai Ho,Stallion & Vincent are listed after them. Also from Rikimaru to Gengen, everyone except Tomo and Karen are early-game recruits. The last characters of this list from Ridley to Gilbert are usable only in war battles and they don't offer any service in your castle. Marlowe is included there too...but the only guess i can make is,that the game developers were planning to use him in war battles but they removed him during the process?? i dunno


I can't find any further explanations about the characters order...it's a real mystery

The list is ordered identically to how their character data appears in memory, and by extension in the same order as you find in NAMES.BIN. Why they ordered them that way is a question for Konami. In theory, they could bias it for fast searches by putting the most frequently accessed characters earlier in the array, but there's scarcely a need for searching. I suspect new characters were added when they were required during development, and the order just emerged out of that. It's also possible, but probably highly unlikely, that the names are actually sorted in some sensible order according to their Japanese translations, and they remained like this because of the cheap localization.

It's a terrible thing to foist onto users. That list should have been alphabetized or something.

That's just everybody they created, regardless of what purpose they serve, ripped out of NAMES.BIN. No idea who SSS is, or GRA for that matter.
