[Codes] Codebreaker: Unlock True Rune spells (S1 and S2)

Post by suiko2fan2 »

After much tedious back and forth work with emulators and CE, i was able to find the codes for unlocking the True Rune codes for S1 and S2 in that particular coding language, but i couldn't translate them correctly into codebreaker (cmgsccc style) codes. But after the most excellent work and help of Hybridfurie, he was successful to convert the codes. So he deserves a lot of credit as well.

Anyhow, since i am feeling excited and super generous, here they are my suiko community. (I've only tested them using an emulator and pec, which is codebreaker format, so those with that kind of console game cheat device should have no problem, but i am not sure if these will work with gameshark format.) Nonetheless, you welcome and enjoy. Also, be sure to thank Hybridfurie as well, if you get a chance.

Here they be:

3016E724 0004 Unlock all Soul Eater spells

3006AF58 003F Unlock Forgiver's Sign

Haha, I didn't really do much. I'm glad you found those addresses. A word of warning to anyone testing these, You MUST have the correct MP level in order to see the spell. I completely missed the Forgiver's Sign code when I was hacking because I thought it would show up, at least grayed out, even if I had no MP of that level--but it doesn't. Until you have at least 1 MP max in the level of the spell, it doesn't show up at all (which makes sense considering that's how the system usually works--you can't see the names of spells until you level up enough to have them.)

These should work on both gameshark and codebreaker, if I remember right. The only codes I remember not being cross-compatible were 50-B0 code types.

Really it'll work for both, how about that, well there you go! lol. yeah that mp thing was a pain before i remember it too, thats why i just did a quick leveled up code for the the heroes up to like 60 and staredt my experimenting before i found the right value addresses.

@Raww It goes in the plot section... because...now you don't need the plot unlock the spells, and i had to put it somewhere ;-P

I currently working on Suikoden IV's Rune of Punishment. I have made some very very significant progress tonight in both finding the information to both unlock all 4 attacks as well as turn off the dmg of the ROP. Although, PS2 codes are different and more difficult than psx ones to make, so things seem to be a little iffy now. I am not trying to get anyone's hopes up of making suikoden IV suck less, but i am optimistic for now. If anything concrete comes from it, i'll post it here or in another thread.

Suikoden 2 Glitch for using the code:

Problem: I've been playing suikoden 2 on emulator (epsxe 1.7) and was using the PEC code emulator. Anyhow i've notice a glitch that comes from using the Forgiver's Sign unlock code. It comes right before you're suppose to get the rune attack unlocked for real in the normal way. Right after you fight the golden wolf in Muse and finishing collecting the other 108, your suppose to have a small scene in the main room, next to the tablet of promise and the scene with Kiba entering Shu's room to talk about the next battle. Apparently, those 2 scenes will NOT show up if the code had been enabled earlier in the game. So your basically you're stuck without the storyline advancing.

Solution: After Golden Wolf fights in Muse, finish collecting the last 108 characters, go to your inn and talk to Hilda save your game. Open PEC and change the 3006AF58 003F to 3006AF58 0000. Restart the game and load the save the normal memorycard way. NO savestates for this part! (check Riou's rune it should be back to 3 attacks). Save the game again. Restart once more, with no codes enables, you should still have 3 rune attacks, go to the tablet of stars, and watch the scene (the background will be a strange black) unfold with shu, apple, etc.. Dont go forward when its over, but rather go back to the tavern. Now everything is cool, you can go see Kiba and shu and do whatever. When your ready advance the story to the next scene and get the Forgiver Sign the natural way. SO really you've missed out on nothing. NO probs!

(P.S. Unlocking Suikoden 1 attacks have no glitches on the storyline)

Suikoden 1. I don't know why the topic creator did an S1&2 topic in the S1 forum, but I didn't feel like there was any point in starting a new thread for this.

Here's fun (if you're using PEC or something in an emulator, good luck on real hardware).

Item Debug
800C0780 8018
800C0782 3C02
800C0784 FC3C
800C0786 9442
800C0788 800C
800C078A 3C01
800C078C 07D0
800C078E 9429
800C0790 DFFF
800C0792 3408
800C0794 000C
800C0796 1122
800C0798 07D0
800C079A A422
800C079C 000A
800C079E 1502
800C07A0 00B3 <- Max item.
800C07A2 2CA1
800C07A4 0005
800C07A6 1420
800C07A8 0001 <- Min item.
800C07AA 24A5
800C07AC 0001
800C07AE 2405
800C07BC 0100 <-Quantity (1) and flags
800C07BE 3402
800C07C0 0020
800C07C2 A465
800C07C4 0022
800C07C6 A462
800C07C8 53CC
800C07CA 0803
800CB8C8 01E0
800CB8CA 0C03

Go into the item menu, pick a character, and put the cursor on an item you want to modify in their inventory. Press right and the value will change to the next available item, e.g., "Half helmet" -> "Head gear" -> "Full helmet". You can't go back with this, only circle around. So you might want to adjust the maximum and minimum items to save time, if all you want to do is get the best equipment for your characters. Also, and this is not particularly fixable with a code, the game rightly doesn't plan on rebuilding the inventory listing in the detail menu. The description will update, but the item name itself will stubbornly remain. Because of this it will appear that you have an Antitoxin that auto heals and provides +27 defense. The correct item name will appear when you back out to the character selection. Fixing these limitations (decrementing or moving left, and forcing the item names to update) will likely double the length of the code or worse. At that rate, this becomes more practical as a patch.

The quantity is deliberately set to 1, so it's not that useful for getting free Medicines. All the flags, including the equipped flags are set off when the item is modified to avoid crashes and other oddities. If you change something that is being worn, you'll have to reequip it.

I only tested it while wandering around the castle. I don't suggest leaving it on at all times, if only because you might accidentally turn your hero's Master Garb into useless Full Armor or something. I mainly made this for tweaking circumstances in a save I intend to import into Suikoden II, without having to hunt a bunch of rare drops, and to build familiarity with the game's code. If this cheat causes a crash during the battle at Pannu Yakuta, I'm not really that fussed.

The experience codes work but not sure about the drop code. But then again just using a PS One console so I apologize if that wasn't helpful.

What I want to work on the console is this code:

For some reason, none of these codes will work. I am using a Gameshark Lite on a PS2. They are all entered correctly but they have no effect.
