Odin Sphere - Muramasa - Dragons Crown

Post by gilgamesh31 »

Has anyone played these games by Vanillaware? They are basically sidescrolling action games with RPG elements like leveling up, changing equipment and buying items. The thing that makes these games stand out is that they are beautifully hand drawn with a huge amount of detail and the gameplay is fun and addictive.

Odin sphere is loosely based on Norse mythology and was released on the Playstation 2. It gives you the choice to play as five different charcters: A Valkyrie, a Witch, a Shadow knight, a Pooka prince (Pooka's are kobold like creatures) and a Fairy princess with a bow. Each character has a unique storyline which often crosses over with the other characters you play as, this means that this game will kill ALOT of time, especially if you want to get them all to level 99.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade, is based on Japanese folklore and was released on the Wii, im actually playing through it right now. There are 108 different swords to collect each with a different power and there is a choice of two characters a male ninja with amnesia and a princess who is possessed by the spirit of a dead swordsman. Its awesome and runs ultra smoothly.

Dragons Crown is released in 2012 on the PS3 and is a four player online co-op, check out a video because these HD graphics are perfect for this company. You get a choice of six characters: A Knight, A muscular Amazon, An Elvern archer girl, A Dwarvern Bezerker, a Wizard dude and A Sorceress who might actually possess the most comical pair of boobies ive ever seen in a game. It looks like you can ride mounts as well which is a first in these games. You can also switch beetween playing it on PS3 and Playstation Vita (the new PSP).

A new game called Grand knights history is due out in september on the PSP, its by the same company Vanillaware but its a turn based RPG where you get to coustomise your charcter. If you havent all ready, then check these games out on youtube or give them a go yourself, i know that they wont be everyones idea of fun but i really enjoyed the two that ive played and have high hopes for Dragons Crown. Bring on 2012!
If it's not found out, a lie becomes the truth.
