[Guide] Trading prices / unlockables

Postby KFCrispy » Thu Mar 19, 2009 12:49 pm

Draekon's links are gone so I have uploaded my versions of the documents. I don't recall what is what, but I will just provide links to 3 documents I still have:
1. https://www.dropbox.com/s/p6jfj9sic1rwq ... s.xls?dl=0 - list of trading prices with some trading routes listed underneath
2. https://www.dropbox.com/s/l1je7qrxgzt6k ... g.xls?dl=0 - Dataset of trading prices and unlocks
3. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3yquzo16zvnj7 ... e.xls?dl=0 - a trading guide I probably created for myself

Since the spreadsheet is already available and lists most prices, this topic will try to document the unlockables and when/how they become available.

it seems the prices at trading posts are fixed and they may only change when there are rumors (DO correct me if i'm wrong!!).
there are unlimited items. the only limit is the maximum number of each item you can hold - many have a limit of 99. metal ore seems to be 50, and some rare/expensive stuff like Eternal Feather is limited to just 5.

Yes, rumours aside, prices and availability of items do not change. The only limit is your storage, so the trading system in this game is IMO the most user-friendly yet. They also see far more use than your standard Suikoden titles, due to the no-potch enemy drops.

Most people miss this, but it's worth noting that trading a certain amount of specific items and generating a certain amount of profit from them unlock specific new items in HQ shops.

what are some examples? are you saying unlocking something like Wool Cloth will unlock more armors in your HQ shop?

Yeah, something like that. e.g. Trading enough Iris Stone will unlock Iris Blades in Gadburg's smithy.

question about some goods: i found a Dried Truffle and a Giant Bug Shell (awesome, first area-boss encounter...) and i saw i could sell them at the trading shop. so i just sold them and had assumed i had unlocked them so i could trade them at anytime, but they didn't become available immediately! do they eventually become available for trading can you only find then sell them?

Unlocking trade items seems to be mostly dependent on plot progression, especially for those two items.

I'm already before the point of no return, but I'm still stuck without Prismatic Peach, Death Skull, Uncut Sapphire and Uncut Topaz... damn.

p.s. Pretty good spreadsheet there. I already made one of my own though, and it doesn't abuse too much colours. It also helps a lot when trying to take advantage of those lovely rumours~

It seems some trading items can only be added via wifi quests. Wouldn't it be an easy workaround to just find an AR code to unlock the wifi-only stuff?

The only problem is that, do people actually do these WiFi quests?

Prismatic Peach is the only one available from there, nonetheless. Without a New Game+, it really isn't worth much. Completionists aside, that is.

Just unlocked Death Skull earlier, not sure what I did. Nofret's second quest should open up the remaining Uncut gems, so I'm training her stats up to be worthy being sent away.

Please try to post when you find things getting unlocked - what event/quest did you just complete or what did you trade to unlock an item?

Like the clothes, the gems also work the same way...

Rainbow Cloth: Make a large profit trading lots of Rainbow Thread

Large Ruby: Make a large profit trading lots of Uncut Ruby
Large Emerald: Make a large profit trading lots of Uncut Emerald
Large Sapphire: Make a large profit trading lots of Uncut Sapphire
Large Topaz: Make a large profit trading lots of Uncut Topaz
Diamond: Make a large profit trading lots of Uncut Diamond

Black Onyx: Make a large profit trading lots of Darkness Stone
Iris Lazuli: Make a large profit trading Iris Stone

Pekklar Meat: Autar's Gather Animals
Uncut Sapphire, Uncut Topaz: Nofret's Help Me Dig Again
Uncut Ruby, Uncut Diamond: Tuhululu's Lugenik Goods

I still can't get Prismatic Peaches. How to make Tuhululu's wifi quest available anyway?

i didn't notice earlier until it was too late to reload an earlier save to try to figure out what unlocked Fish Guts, Demon Ear Corn, and Dried Truffles.... i just noticed all 3 were available. i assume Fish Guts is from Mislato Salmon but i'm not too sure about the others. i was trading pretty much all items available btwn Naineneis and Tehah which included all the veges.

i never did a wifi quest but i was able to unlock the prismatic peach. all i know was there was a quest that rewards you with one and it was unlocked.

If that's the case, you ought to have the quest recorded. What's the title?

You can get the Prismatic Peach item for selling from a number of sources, but are you sure that you have unlocked it as a "buyable" item at the trading posts?
