Oh yes, pachislot are very popular in Japan. I'm Japanese so I would know. However, the Suikoden IV one is being bashed on pachislotter forums and is getting lackluster reviwes. Pachislot are popular but it doesn't mean every product is an instant success either.

That's certainly a fair point and I definitely apologize for my ignorance on that part. What comments are being made specifically? It would be interesting to know why the Japanese community dislike it already. It also doesn't look like a promising start for the machine and yet again (main or not) another entry in the series.

Re: Konami Showcases the New Suikoden Pachislot Machine
I found what looks to be some kind scans/coverage of the game on some Jp website called "ameblo."
Here's the recent screenshots and info: http://ameblo.jp/sutekinahideking/entry ... 06040.html
Looks like Jeane will be in the game. Also, it appears his name is officially "Razro" now.
Here's the older info: http://ameblo.jp/sutekinahideking/entry ... 48615.html
I personally am excited about this. To see my favorite Tenkai in 3D graphics is a dream-come-true to me.

Do you know why they have this image?

Are the boxarts of the other games simply shown to represent the series or is it an indication that oters may recieve the same treatment, etc?

If nothing else it gives a nice idea of what a PS3 Suikoden could look like. It's kinda nice.
I'd like to try this sometime, but I can't see it working that well considering it's complete random nature.
Also wonder why it's just called Genso Suikoden when everything shown so far has been from Suikoden IV.

I can't read Japanese but I see the number 15. Probably just talking about the 15th Anniversary of the series.Do you know why they have this image?

That makes sense ttfii! But with this, the sale of the original on the PSN and the release of the anniversary collection, it's quite a bit of attention for the series. It would certainly seem like an excellent marketing opportunity for a new game and a missed opportunity if they don't act on it.

Re: Konami Showcases the New Suikoden Pachislot Machine
Just don't forget that they actually registered an as-yet unused trademark for Genso Suikoden in the US. As for the original game being on sale through PSN, that was more of a 15th anniversary thing for the PSOne in North America more than anything else. Proof comes from the next games (was it two? I forget) being Konami titles.
I'd be content with them bringing this over and calling it Genso Suikoden, but I doubt that's the plan. I don't think I've ever even heard of a well established casino offering Pachislot in North America, which are the only places I've ever seen Konami branded slot machines.

I've certainly never heard of that either. North American casinos prefer the more traditional slot machines and video poker. Though casino profits have dropped significantly in the last couple of years, I think this makes them less likely to try something new and more likely to invest in things they know to work.
As far as the whole "Razro/ Lazlo" thing, I don't think it makes a bit of difference how it is spelled. As far as I know, Japanese has no way to differentiate between the "L" and "R" in the written language. As far as the spoken language, the two are similar phonetically, and the current linguistic thinking is that not only do Japanese have difficulty pronouncing the difference, they also find it hard to hear the difference between the two sounds. This is similar to how western europeans and Americans have a hard time hearing the different sounds of the Slavic and Chinese languages.

Anyone know if these are available to the public for buying? Or where someone could purchase one of these? Would love to own one I don't mind about shipping costs either.

You're right, you can both read Razro/Lalzlo from his name, but Razro makes more sense in that he is named after Razril.Rooks wrote:As far as the whole "Razro/ Lazlo" thing, I don't think it makes a bit of difference how it is spelled. I just watched the video and it looks like they actually put some effort into this. This may be a really good sign for the future of the series.

True, more heads had turned when capcom made a resident evil Pachislot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QndK_snH ... re=related back at 2008, Konami has released this suikoden pachislot but given the titles that came before it I just feel not only it's a late entry but is particularly unimpressive. Well I'm not impressed nor do i think it's a right direction.Vextor wrote:Oh yes, pachislot are very popular in Japan. I'm Japanese so I would know. I imagine they picked suikoden IV probably because they still had the suikoden IV character models and it was easier to make them more compatible (less time consuming) to put onto a Pachislot. If they did suikoden II or I even they would had to start from scratch because all existing characters were in game sprites. If they were to adapt them onto Pachislot the they would had to start over and effectively design a new tir, windy, riou etc.
Suikoden V was pretty much anonymous in terms of popularity as the sales have shown. So IV was the logical choice, not that I think because konami thought it was a good game but because IV was the one that could be turned to a suiko Pachislot the fastest without having to spend too much money on it. I suppose it could be said that this is just a cash cow.

The site's been updated: http://www.kpenet.jp/genso_suikoden.html
It has some new renders, explanations on how the game works (I think...), as well as some character info. (Very curious on what it says about Razlo. Hmm.) It appears the Jp seiyuu who did his "Voice A" grunts is his voice actor.
Also, the trailer is now available for download on the site.

I don't like Kikas looks.. and Jeane looks like an East-European... well...
I will ask a friend later who lives in Japan to translate some text, if she wants. I'm curioius about some descriptions, too.
