Extremist influence on the Suikoden series

Post by Templeton »

As a socialist I have been advocating on and off for the rights of workers and the services of government. My argument, however, would be if communism, fashism, or religious extremists ever be able to infultrate and infuse their ways on the capitalist and, often after a conflict, democratic world which Suikoden inhabits and alter the stories theme in their liking.

In the first game a empire is removed and a republic established; In the Toran region their are some Russian/ socialist revolutionary suggestiveness aspects such as a town named "Leninkamp", or a few areas that come under "public control".

The Dunan Monarchy was overthrown being replaced by the Jowstone alliance bringing more Democracy into that region. On top of that the Dunan Unification war established a "republic" with the removal of the Highland king. It has a techical monarch "Riou", however, the area is very democractic at this point.

The third game was about the Zexen/Grassland situation, and in the end peace was brought to the area and a new council elected in the Zexen "federation". On the Grassland side, perhaps having one additional Clan (Kanaan), the tribal area ceartainly may function as a tribal state democracy.

The fourth game speaks for itself, with the establishment of the Island Nations Federation who does of course have Lazlo as head of state. On top of that their is the Obel Maritime Council aspect to the region with it.

The fifth was about the removal of Noble influence from a senate, and with the remaining influence of the monarch in the end, their was an established and openly democratic parliment to succeed the old "corrupt one".

Kooluk for all we know should now be for the people perhaps as a republic after it's collapse.

There are continuations of the extermist verses moderates as the Niagran Theocracy may be the Iranians of the Suikoden world, and their should be a decently influencial Armes kingdom becide it who claims to have a "Tribal Council".

However, if the Suikoden world were to ever have a great Communisit takeover, it would be in the North with Harmonia's corrupt rule over it's people. I always theorized them to be the Russians pre Soviet era , people who took things all the way with the establishment of the USSR and the wars that followed. Their is after all, a "People's movement" wanting change for their people and perhaps democracy.

The main threat to Suikodens capitalist aspects are Communist governments who may sensor the on-line and in game story so that people can overthrough kingdoms, nationalize industries, and wave red flags over their former emblems. Religious extemists may want a terrorized world to worship nothing but their ways. And a fashist government may want the empires to win.

I for one will, probably in the future, alter my sites them from "Official Suikoden Information", to "Protecting our story from extremist influences".

Thanks for your time.

Ryan.

Hmm, some of your facts aren't quite there Templeton.

According to canon, Teresa Wisemail became the first president of Dunan.

Same for this one, Lino En Kuldes, not Lazlo, was the INF's first head of state.

Not that either of these points make any difference to your theory as such, which is still an interesting one nonetheless.

So which region falls under Nazi Germany? ...Highland maybe... I think they should definitely have a nazi-era germany-like country at some point.
Gotta parallel everything, y'know?
