Most characters caucasion?

Post by Redheim »

Why is it that in Suikoden, a Japanese game, almost all characters are white? This is true with almost all RPGs. I'm even white, and I feel a little uncomfortable playing them... Come on guys, add some color to these games. >_> Anybody have any ideas on why they do this?

Probably along the same reasons as to why all their anime characters are white with HUGE eyes. Even if the were raised in Japan.

Would it make you feel better if Hauser rapped and spoke in ebonics?

Really, it just comes down to anime style. Most characters in anime seem much more Caucasian than Japanese, and other races are in the minority.

I've always thought of them as being japanese.

I actually have to agree with Ranger on this. I never really placed them as White versus Asian. The only characters that i could look at and be like "wow, thats considered to be a minority" are the actually dark skinned characters.

Most RPGs have characters fit stereotypes. I seem to remember reading something about this somewhere....

I've always thought, as ranger, that the caucasian characters in Suikoden are meant to bee japanese or somewhat like that.

But come to think of it.. where do black-skinned people come from in the Suikoden world? It seems as if they are not coming from Dunan, Toran, Harmonia, the Island Nations or Falena(I remember only two, Hauser and the one bodyguard of Lilly.. are there more?), so it seems as if they would come, as in our world, from another continent. maybe a future suikoden will include more other "races"?

maybe they are from all parts of the world, like nowadays

but they could have originated from the grasslands.

But the Grassland people look, at least to me, more Indian(I mean native americans) than african...

I don't think black people would be "African" since. . to my knowledge, there is no Africa in their world.

And now, a little tribute to Kyle x)

was a once in a lifetime opportunity! I can't believe you passed that up!
Damn! I gotta say, you just let down every man in Falena. . ."

I can see a lot of asian characters O.o
Like, for example, Viki, Kasumi, Tir, Riou, Nanami, etc they look like asian to me.
Gustav, Annabelle, Chris, etc look like caucasian.
I guess different people see differently.
