True Beast Rune

Post by DearWoman »

Is the Beast Rune that Ernst held in S5 the same as the rune Luca Blight have in S2? If this is the case...how did it end up on Luca's hand?

Luca never had the True Beast Rune. Luca Blights power came from his own. The Beast rune in S5 is a lower tier version of the True Beast Rune seen in S2.

EDIT: It got moved so I removed spoiler brackets.

They make a mistake and said the Rune was called "the Beast Rune", when it's actually a lower-tier version of it. Of course, it might be unique, considering it curses the wielder and doesn't let you remove it. For all we know it's one of it's kind too.

It can be a beast rune, and not be THE beast rune.

It is, but you can't call both The "True" Beast Rune and it's subservient runes Beast Runes. It would bring lots of confusion, as shown by all the people who thought wrongly that it was THE Beast Rune.

So, Let's make it clear here, it SHOULDN't be called Beast Rune. That said, the "beast Rune" Ernst has seems very special, like I said above, with it's curse and special abilities, so it must be one of it's kind.

I don't think so. The Rabit Fang Rune is very similar to the Beast Rune. Just in reverse(and only works on Werewolves as far as we know.) so that could also be from the True beast Rune.

Sure it could. Fire Rune and True Fire Rune have the same name except with "true" stuck on the beginning. And if you were speaking to the Flame Champion all day and decided to say "your fire rune" instead of "your true fire rune" who could blame you?

Since I doubt the people in Suikoden II knew that there was a regular beast rune they didn't bother to call the True Beast Rune that. And the people in Suikoden V don't know that there's a True Beast Rune so they aren't calling theirs a Lesser Beast Rune or "Wild Cat Rune" anything like that.

Ernst's rune should have been called Beast Magic Rune.

The translators deliberately omitted the word "Magic" in the same way they retconned Luca's maniacal laughs to Childerich to add unnecessary S2 references.

Ah, so WAIT. Bradygames actually didn't went wacko when they added the Beats Rune in their Guide as the "Magical Beast Rune"? Talk about wackyness. And why do people defend Translators screw-ups now a days? It was a mistake, plain and simple.

It seems to be intentional though, not necessarily a mistake. Such as the player's choices regarding meeting Belcoot at the Sacred Games.

Really? What's the official word on that last statement?
It must be so great, to have the bits that stick out and the bits that stay in be so clearly revealed!

They said that on Theirstars.com if I'm not mistaken. Some people from the translation staff post there.

SARS wrote:In the Japanese version, the rune is written with the character for Beast, Magic, and Rune. So the US version left out the "magic" part. Quite confusing.
Or patapi figured it out on her own. Probably the latter.

Not only SARS but also The Keepers of the Flame website wrote that...

It's quite embarassing they finally made the right translation for Godspeed Rune but mixed up Magical Beast Rune...
Karena wanita ingin dimengerti

Karena wanita ingin dimengerti

ADA Band - Karena Wanita (Ingin Dimengerti)

They omitted a word in the translation of Cathari's rune as well.

They added the "speed" aspect of the name in, but took away "true". Making her rune look like a downgrade from Stallion and Cedric's. They actually got the two tiers right in Tactics, but not here.
