Stacking Resists

Does anyone know for sure whether stacking items with resists will double the resist?

I currently have 2 items on Chris which have "Resist Fire" trait. I'm not sure whether I should move one of them to another character or not though. The helmet itself has very good stats, but I already have Resist Fire on her.

So basically what I'm trying to figure out, is if the "Resist Fire" stat on the 2 items accumulate, or double, or what it is exactly. Or if nothing happens with the second item and the "Resist Fire" is ignored.

resistances don't stack. There are 3 different levels of resistance that an item might have, either 10%, 20%, or 30%. if you look at the rare armor guide on this site, you'll see what items have which. Whatever the highest resistance you have equipped, will be the one that is used in resisting damage.
