no, you can get it in any POV. It's just super rare, as are most of the special runes you can simply buy in Luc's POV.

The four items I need to get before ending this chapter:

removed pine bonsai from the list

removed fortune rune from the list

removed mole helm from the list

removed barrier rune from the list

it's the same corspe as the water magic ring, the one nearest the save point.

that corpse only gives me engraved gauntlet so far out of 10 tries soft-resetting

are you sure it's not the corpse near the entrance? it gives me pale gate rune
have you really got the item before?

i swear that place is bugged, soft-resetting doesn't work to get the item you want. they always give the same item

okay, i've concluded that:

mole helm is no longer available since i'm already at chapter 4 and I remember getting this helm on chapter 1-3 last year

barrier rune is only available at chapter 5. I remember getting this rune on chapter 5 last year

you're probably doing the reset trick incorrectly for the corpse furthest in the Flame Champion Hideaway. once you've walked into that screen (which is required to get to the save point and treasure boss), you've already gotten the item generated. i've mentioned this several times: take the item in the bag then move to the next area with the save point and wait around for 30 minutes or so, save, then go check (make sure there is a new item or else reload and wait around more before saving again and checking) and you can soft-reset continuously from there.

i've personally gotten both the Barrier Rune and Water Magic Ring in Chris Chapter 3. i even provided a Codebreaker Save that lets you immediately check the item bag and do the soft reset trick (game saves). you can probably find an old discussion where i mentioned all of this when creating the save for the site.

My own experience:

Got both barrier and pale gate runes from those two corpse during a Geddoe4, right after withdraw toward Duckville but before the battle of duckville. Using savestate of pcsx2, of course.
