Prince of the Magedom of Janam, and son of Danash VIII and Kureyah. Shams is a level-headed, calm young man who immediately takes a liking to the Hero. He had originally thought that the Hero, who had crushed the Order’s forces, was a big strong man, but when he sees that he’s not much older then Shams himself, finds him to be inspiring.

When Shams learns the Hero is about to help Rizwan with some Chronicle research, he decides to show the Hero Manaril’s situation, and has Mubal steal a key to give to the Hero. Afterwards, when the Hero decides to leave the Magedom, he requests that the Hero take Manaril with him. The Hero, just before leaving, asks Shams to come with them, but he refuses, as he must work to make the country one that Manaril can return to in peace.

When the Magedom declares that the company is to be a neutral party, Asad believes that it to be in no small part due to Shams’s influence. Reportedly, he took such an active hand in policy that it made Danash proud.

Shams tours in Salsabil to raise the morale of the troops when the fusion of the 10th world occurs. As such, he is spared. His memory is rewritten, however, and believes that he is now the King of the independent nation of Salsabil. However, during the night, he sees the spirit of Rizwan, who gives him the Chronicle of the Ancient Covenant, and tells him to find Manaril. When Shams touches the Chronicle, he becomes a Starbearer, and breaks down crying when he feels the million lives snuffed out from the Magedom.

Shams decides he must act as if he has no knowledge of the Magedom, and so, when Manaril arrives, he merely greets the Hero, and claims that, although the nations are allies and Manaril has been sent to the Hero’s Castle as his representative, he will move the royal court to be more active against the Order. Manaril and Mubal consider it a mercy that he doesn’t understand, but Shams visits them at the inn, and tells them about the spirit of Rizwan.

Shams serves the Hero’s army against the One King, and helps piece together the power of the False Chronicles and the fusions once Sophia explains Valfred’s plans. After the war ends, he returns to Salsabil, and establishes formal relations with the United Kingdom of Ritterschild. - Matt620
