The second Empress Consort of the Magedom of Janam, Rizwan is the head of the Arcane Academy. She helps refine the mage arts that Janam specializes in. The affects of Mage Arts are similar to the mark of the stars as it is information derived from the False Chronicles, but have significantly less power. Thus, Rizwan is tasked with either improving the power of the mage arts to that level, or making the mark of the stars, normally available to a few people, accessible to all. She lends the Hero the Chronicle of Fierce Regalia, as well as dispatching Mubal to observe the power of the Chronicles so that he may advance Mage Arts.

Rizwan is the mother of Manaril, and pushes her daughter into reading the Chronicles, being the only person able to do such a task. As Rizwan’s position as head of the academy requires her to continually produce results, she ruthlessly drives her daughter, even though readers typically perish a few years after undertaking their ordeals.

When the Hero leaves his alliance with the Magedom and reclaims Manaril, Rizwan traps them in the dreambeast chamber. After the beast is vanquished, Rizwan demands that they return the Chronicle kept in the basement, which the Hero had not taken. When questioned as to why she did not ask for Manaril, she replies that they wouldn’t have returned her anyway. She tells Manaril to do as she wishes, as she will not live much longer, and Rizwan needs to find a new reader. Criticized for being cold, she states that it is merely a fact. The Hero’s party leaves with Manaril. Once she is gone, Rizwan quietly remarks that, indeed, Manaril would not live longer only if she were to remain reading. If she was taken by the Company, she would be safe.

Rizwan is in the Arcane Academy when the 10th fusion occurs, and vanishes along with the Magedom. However, a ghostly spirit of Rizwan appears before Prince Shams, who was in Salsabil and thus, saved from the fusion. She gives the Chronicle of the Ancient Covenant, the book from the Magedom, to him, telling him to find Manaril.

The Hero soon learns from Dirk that the fusion that wiped out the Magedom actually occurred north of where it was supposed to happen, which is the reason Salsabil was out of range. Shams and Manaril conclude that it must have been Rizwan, drawing on the power of the Chronicle of Ancient Covenant, to alter the fusion. As such, the structure of El-Qaral was able to survive, but not it’s people, and Salsabil was knocked out of range. - Matt620
