A well-mannered Scribe, Luo-Tao takes it upon himself to greet the Hero and Chrodechild when the newcomers are brought to the woods, as well as revealing Liuís full name of Liu-Shen to the Hero. He brings the Hero before Lao-Kwan, and defends her against Diadora when the archivist tries to obtain the Chronicles now in the woods. Along with Len-Lien, he sees to the remains of Lao-Kwan after her death.
Although Luo-Tao assigns blame for Lao-Kwanís death upon the Hero, he reveals to the more militant Hao-Shi that Lao-Kwan used the Tautau Council with full knowledge of what doing so would entail, and that she chose Liu as Elder despite the fact that she knew he would leave the woods. Luo-Tao decides that he will accompany Liu to stop the Order.
Once Luo-Tao becomes a Starbearer, he gains the powerful ability to detect Chronicles from a great distance. He senses that the Chronicles stolen by the Order from Pharamond are moving towards the castle, and the Company can defend against them. He also accompanies the Hero when the desert world appears, trying to find itís Chronicle before the Order. However, he is not able to differentiate between Chronicles, and is lured by Diadora, who contains a Chronicle of her own.
After the fall of the One King, Luo-Tao lives in Cynas, working to foster better relations between the Scribes and other cultures. - Matt620
